A plastic factory in Shahdaulatpur village of Burichang upazila, Comilla, was completely destroyed by fire on Saturday afternoon after a dispute over sharing octane led to an accidental ignition. A woman named Nasima Begum, wife of expatriate Al Amin, was hacked to death by assailants at her home in Sharif Sardar Bari, Ward 6 of Shibpur Union under Bhola Sadar, around midnight on Friday. Her eight-year-old son Abir was also attacked and seriously injured but survived by pretending to be dead. Police recovered Nasima’s body on Saturday and sent it for autopsy.
