Police in Chattogram have arrested a private bank officer, Anamika Dutta, 32, on charges of embezzling nearly Tk 2.9 million from a customer. According to the case statement, Dutta befriended a customer named Debika and convinced her that the bank might go bankrupt, persuading her to break her fixed deposit. A tragic accident occurred at the ‘Messrs Bold Bricks’ brick kiln in Sarupdah area of Monirampur upazila, Jashore, where a worker named Zakir Morol, 45, was killed after being trapped in a brick-making machine. Fire Service and police personnel recovered parts of his body after a three-hour rescue effort. Zakir, a resident of Munshikhampur village, had been working at the kiln for about two years.
