The Bangladesh Meteorological Department has forecast thundershowers in several regions over the next three days. From Thursday evening, rainfall with thunder may occur in parts of Dhaka, Khulna, Barisal, Chattogram, and Sylhet divisions, with isolated showers in Rajshahi, Rangpur, and Mymensingh. Temperatures will remain mostly stable. On Friday, rain may spread slightly, with a slight rise in temperatures. By Saturday, light to moderate rain or thundershowers may affect parts of Chattogram and Sylhet, while the rest of the country is expected to remain mostly dry.

A horrific train accident occurred on Chattogram’s Kalurghat Bridge, where a train collided with several vehicles, including private cars, CNG auto-rickshaws, and pickups. The collision left the vehicles mangled and caused panic in the area. So far, at least 10 people have been confirmed dead, and many others are feared injured. Rescue operations are ongoing, and authorities have yet to determine the full extent of the damage. Eyewitnesses report a chaotic scene with widespread devastation.

The BNP has issued formal warning notices to its Vice Chairmen Barkatullah Bulu and Shamsuzzaman Dudu for making controversial and incoherent remarks. A 63-year-old widow, Morium Begum, from Uttar Anontoram village in Pirgacha, Rangpur, has filed a complaint accusing a local man, Bulu Master, of trying to seize her remaining 5 percent inherited land. Morium had sold 28 percent of her 33 percent ancestral land to Bulu Master, but he allegedly refuses to hand over the rest. Despite repeated requests, he reportedly abused and threatened her. Police have confirmed initial findings and are working toward resolving the issue.

BNP senior leader Ruhul Kabir Rizvi has accused a malicious group of deliberately spreading false propaganda against Dr. Zobaida Rahman and her daughter Zaima Rahman on social media using fake IDs. After withdrawing 50,000 taka from Islami Bank in Basurhat, Noakhali, Shahidullah was approached by a stranger claiming to know his sons abroad. During a handshake, the man secretly took the cash. In a late-night operation on the Dhaka-Mawa highway, the Bangladesh Army recovered excess fares from 13 bus operators and refunded over 200 passengers. Yemen’s armed forces have claimed responsibility for a drone strike on Israel’s Ben Gurion Airport, describing it as a retaliatory act against Israeli aggression in Gaza. Six-year-old Sajidul Karim Abrar came from Dubai to his ancestral home in Gondamara, Banshkhali, Chattogram, to celebrate Eid-ul-Azha with his family. Tragically, on Thursday morning around 7:30 AM, he drowned in a pond behind their house. Despite immediate efforts by family and locals to rescue him and rush him to the Upazila Health Complex, doctors declared him dead. The family had recently returned to Bangladesh and traveled to their village home a day before the incident to celebrate Eid.
