An international clinical trial has reported unprecedented success in cancer treatment using a new triple-action injection called amivantamab. Conducted across 11 countries, the trial involved patients whose cancers had spread, returned after treatment, or resisted conventional therapies. The injection completely removed tumors in some patients, with visible results within weeks. Among 102 participants with head and neck cancer, 43 saw tumor shrinkage or disappearance, including 15 whose tumors were fully eliminated. The findings were presented at the American Society of Clinical Oncology’s annual meeting in Chicago.

Developed by Johnson & Johnson, amivantamab is being evaluated in about 60 clinical trials, primarily for lung cancer but also for colon, brain, and stomach cancers. The injection works by blocking the EGFR protein, inhibiting the MET pathway, and activating the immune system to attack tumors. Administered under the skin every three weeks, it showed mild to moderate side effects, with fewer than one in ten patients discontinuing treatment.

Researchers emphasized that the trial focused on HPV-negative head and neck cancer patients, a group typically difficult to treat, and that the therapy extended survival to an average of 12.5 months after standard treatments failed.

An Israeli airstrike in southern Lebanon has killed nine Syrian refugees from the same family, including six children, despite a ceasefire being in effect. The attack occurred near the city of Sidon in the Adloun area, where Israeli warplanes struck a residential building. Lebanon’s state news agency reported that civilians were living in the building, and the health ministry confirmed that all the bodies recovered from the rubble belonged to one family.

The ceasefire, initially brokered through indirect U.S. mediation and extended for 45 days from May 17, has not halted Israeli operations in Lebanon. Israel continues to carry out airstrikes and military actions in southern Lebanon, the Bekaa Valley, and areas under Hezbollah influence, claiming to target Hezbollah’s military infrastructure and weapons depots. Lebanese authorities and human rights groups, however, report rising civilian casualties and widespread destruction.

In recent months, hundreds have been killed in Israeli attacks across Lebanon, including women, children, and medical workers. Hezbollah has also continued rocket and drone strikes into northern Israel, keeping border tensions high despite the ceasefire.

Paris witnessed both jubilation and unrest on the night of May 31, 2026, after Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) defeated Arsenal in the Champions League final in Budapest. Following the dramatic tiebreaker victory, thousands of fans flooded the streets of the French capital, particularly around the Arc de Triomphe and the Champs-Élysées, to celebrate with fireworks, flags, and car horns. Local authorities estimated around 20,000 people gathered in the area.

However, parts of the celebration turned violent as isolated groups engaged in vandalism and arson. Paris police reported attempts to attack a police station in the city’s 8th arrondissement, which were quickly dispersed. One police officer was injured, and a bakery and a restaurant were damaged. Police detained at least 45 people by 10 p.m., and temporary road blockades caused further disruption on the city’s ring road.

Authorities had deployed about 8,000 officers across Paris in anticipation of possible unrest, recalling similar incidents during last year’s celebrations. Despite the precautions, the night ended with both triumph and tension for the French champions and their supporters.

Iran has unveiled a new high-speed attack vessel capable of launching cruise missiles. According to the semi-official Fars news agency, the unveiling took place at Tehran’s Enqelab Square, where the Iranian military introduced the vessel named ‘27 Rajab’. The report stated that the vessel can reach speeds of up to 100 knots, equivalent to 185 kilometers per hour, and is designed for long-range cruise missile operations.

Fars described the new vessel as a symbol of Iran’s growing maritime military capability. The development underscores Tehran’s continued focus on strengthening its naval forces amid regional security challenges.

In a separate statement, Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) announced that it had shot down a U.S. drone that allegedly entered Iranian airspace over regional waters for a hostile mission, according to the same report.

US President Donald Trump stated that the airstrike on Iran was carried out to protect Israel. In an interview with Fox News, he said that if the United States had not launched a B-2 bomber attack on Iran nine months earlier, the country might have already developed nuclear weapons. According to Trump, such a scenario could have led to the loss of Israel and destabilized the Middle East.

Discussing his next steps on Iran, Trump said the United States was close to reaching a 'great deal' that would save many lives and allow the immediate reopening of the Strait of Hormuz after signing. He described Iran’s leadership as tough negotiators but claimed the US was gradually achieving its objectives.

Trump added that he was not in a hurry to finalize the deal, emphasizing that rushing could lead to a poor agreement. He concluded that if the desired outcome was not reached, the US would end the matter through other means.

Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) announced that it has shot down a United States military drone that allegedly entered Iranian airspace. According to an IRGC statement, the MQ-1 drone was detected early in the morning as it crossed regional waters and entered Iran’s skies with the intention of conducting a hostile mission. The drone was reportedly destroyed by a modern defense missile system operated by the Revolutionary Guard.

The IRGC emphasized that any act of aggression against Iran would be met with firm retaliation. The statement did not specify the exact location of the incident or provide details about possible casualties or debris recovery. The report was originally carried by Al Jazeera.

The incident highlights continuing tensions between Iran and the United States over military operations and surveillance in the region, though no immediate response from the US side was mentioned in the report.

U.S. President Donald Trump has requested several amendments to the draft of a potential agreement with Iran, according to a report by Axios citing American officials. During a Situation Room meeting on Friday, Trump reportedly instructed his team to revise sections of the draft related to Iran’s nuclear program. The current draft includes Iran’s pledge not to develop nuclear weapons but lacks specific provisions on related concessions.

A senior administration official told Axios that Trump asked for more detailed descriptions of how the United States would gain access to Iran’s enriched uranium stockpile and the timeline for doing so. Another source said Trump also wants to alter the language concerning the reopening of the Strait of Hormuz. Officials indicated that Iran’s response to the proposed changes is expected within three days, with the U.S. administration hoping to receive it by the end of the week.

The report, citing Al Jazeera as a source, suggests that the proposed revisions could shape the next phase of U.S.-Iran negotiations if Tehran responds positively.

A new provision in the US Congress seeks to bring the American and Israeli militaries closer through expanded cooperation in weapons research, production, and technology. The proposal, titled the “United States–Israel Defense Technology Cooperation Initiative,” appears in Section 224 of the House Armed Services Committee’s version of the 2027 National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA). If enacted, it would mark a major shift in one of the world’s closest military partnerships, extending collaboration beyond aid to joint defense industry integration.

Under Section 224, the US Secretary of Defense would appoint an executive agent to coordinate joint research, development, and production, as well as data and systems integration. Former State Department official Josh Paul criticized the measure, warning it would embed Israel deeply into the US defense base and grant it unprecedented access to American technology. The bill also aims to expand cooperation in artificial intelligence, drones, and cyber operations.

The initiative follows recent US–Israeli joint military actions in Iran and comes amid regional instability and international scrutiny of Israel’s conduct in Gaza. The proposal has bipartisan support from committee leaders Mike Rogers and Adam Smith but faces growing domestic debate over continued military aid to Israel.

Iran has declared full control over the Strait of Hormuz and issued strict navigation directives for all commercial and military vessels. According to a statement published in Iranian media by the country’s central military headquarters, Khatam al-Anbia, all ships, including tankers, must follow designated routes and obtain permission from the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps Navy. Tehran warned that any violation of these rules would put the safety of the vessels at serious risk.

The statement also cautioned foreign military forces operating in the area, saying that any attempt to interfere with maritime management or navigation would be met with action. The announcement underscores Iran’s assertion of authority over one of the world’s most strategically important waterways, through which a significant portion of global maritime trade passes.

The warning signals heightened tension in the region, as Iran reinforces its control and issues clear restrictions on naval movement through the strait.

A banned faction of the Awami League organized a sudden procession on the Dhaka-Chattogram highway in the Nimshar area of Mokam Union under Burichong upazila, Cumilla, on Sunday morning at around 7 a.m. According to local sources, the event was arranged under the patronage of Ehetasam ul Hasan Rumi, information and technology secretary of Cumilla South District Awami League, and led by Burichong Upazila Jubo League leader Jalal Uddin. Jalal Uddin stated that about two hundred activists participated in the procession near the western side of Nimshar Bazar.

Reports indicate that Awami League and Jubo League members gathered on the highway early in the morning and later marched through Nimshar and Korpai areas. Burichong Police Station Officer-in-Charge Md Lutfor Rahman said the activists tried to gather in Korpai but fled when police arrived, and that action is being taken.

The incident has raised questions locally about enforcement of restrictions on banned political activities along the major highway.

U.S. President Donald Trump has said he is not in a hurry to reach an agreement with Iran, emphasizing his preference for a diplomatic deal over military action. In an interview with Fox News, Trump stated that the United States is aiming for a 'great deal' with Iran, but if that fails, military options remain on the table.

Trump described Iran’s leadership as 'very tough negotiators' and noted that the U.S. is gradually achieving its desired goals. He stressed that rushing into negotiations could prevent a good deal, adding that patience is key to securing favorable terms. Trump also said that a successful agreement would save many lives and allow the immediate reopening of the Strait of Hormuz.

The remarks, reported by Al Jazeera, reflect Trump’s cautious approach toward Iran, balancing diplomatic engagement with the threat of force if negotiations do not yield results.

US President Donald Trump stated that American forces should not have been involved in either the Iraq or Iran wars. He made the remarks during an interview with Fox News while discussing his next steps regarding Iran. Referring to the Iraq war, Trump said the United States had performed poorly there and that entering Iraq had been a foolish decision.

Turning to Iran, Trump said the US should not have remained involved there either, though he claimed Iran had significant capabilities. He suggested that if the US had not launched a B-2 bomber strike nine months earlier, Iran might have developed nuclear weapons, which could have drastically changed the Middle East situation. Trump also claimed that the US deliberately spared Iran’s military forces, describing them as somewhat moderate compared to other groups.

He added that wars often lead to mistakes that devastate nations for decades, implying that restraint in military action was a deliberate choice by his administration.

A memorandum of understanding to extend the ceasefire between the United States and Iran has reached its final stage, but it still awaits the formal approval of US President Donald Trump. Despite holding a key meeting with his advisers in the White House Situation Room on Friday, Trump left without making a final decision on the proposed framework for extending the truce.

Earlier reports indicated that both nations were close to finalizing the agreement, which would not only prolong the current ceasefire but also potentially reopen the Strait of Hormuz and initiate discussions on resolving nuclear issues. However, none of these developments have yet materialized.

US Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth, speaking from Singapore on Saturday, expressed optimism about reaching an agreement but confirmed that the US naval blockade in the Strait of Hormuz would remain until the deal is finalized. He emphasized that the United States remains fully prepared to resume military action if necessary and that its regional military posture is stronger than ever.
