The market is filled with fragrant mangoes at reasonable prices, but consumers must ensure the fruit is chemical-free for health safety. Signs of chemical-free mangoes include the presence of flies on the fruit, a whitish natural coating, and skin with spots. Naturally ripened mangoes emit a sweet aroma and have varied skin colors with some dark spots. Chemically treated mangoes are spotless, overly yellow, lack aroma, and repel flies. Smelling the mango before purchase helps confirm its authenticity.
