Ruhul Kabir Rizvi, senior joint secretary general of BNP, claimed that India never intends to maintain friendly relations with its neighboring countries. Three Bangladeshi women were trafficked to Mumbai with the false promise of hospital jobs but were forced into immoral activities. Police arrested one suspect, Manasar Ahmed Sheikh, and are searching for three others involved. The women were rescued and sent to a shelter. They crossed the border illegally last month, with traffickers bribing officials to facilitate their entry. Authorities are investigating if more women were trafficked by the group and coerced into prostitution.

Farida Khandaker, wife of former army chief and Bir Uttam recipient AVM (Retd) AK Khandaker, passed away at 12:15 PM on Sunday at Dhaka’s Combined Military Hospital (CMH). She was 82. Admitted the previous day, she had been suffering from multiple health conditions, including pneumonia, breast cancer, diabetes, and hypertension. Her funeral prayer will be held on Wednesday after Asr prayers at BAF BSR Shaheen Mosque, and she will be buried at the BAF Shaheen Cemetery in Tejgaon. Prayers are requested for the departed soul.

Chief Adviser Prof. Muhammad Yunus said the interim government formed after the July uprising is deeply committed to the development of small and medium enterprises (SMEs). Marking World Accreditation Day 2025, he urged continued efforts from the Bangladesh Accreditation Board (BAB) and stakeholders to boost sustainable industrialization and trade. Highlighting SMEs as vital to GDP and job creation, he stressed the need for global cooperation to overcome challenges. He also praised accreditation’s role in enhancing quality, removing trade barriers, and enabling international market access.

A tragic head-on collision between a passenger bus and a CNG auto rickshaw occurred on Motlob-Pennai Road in Chandpur, resulting in two deaths and six injuries, including a child. The accident happened near Bardia Bridge in Motlob South Upazila on June 8. The deceased include the auto rickshaw driver Abu Bakar Siddique and passenger Tapan Chowdhury. Several injured are receiving treatment locally, while one seriously hurt passenger has been transferred to Dhaka for advanced care. Authorities have seized both vehicles involved.

Continuous heavy rains and landslides have triggered severe floods in Northeast India, causing over 100 deaths and displacing hundreds of thousands. Dhaka Metropolitan Police has imposed a ban on all meetings, rallies, processions, and mass gatherings around the Chief Adviser’s official residence, Jamuna, and the Secretariat area starting Monday, June 9, 2025, until further notice. The ban covers nearby locations including Hotel Intercontinental Mor, Kakrail Mosque Mor, Officers Club Mor, and Mintu Road. This measure aims to maintain public order and ensure the security of the Chief Adviser. The announcement was made through a DMP press release signed by Commissioner Sheikh Md. Sajjat Ali.
