Water Resources Minister and BNP Joint Secretary General Shahid Uddin Chowdhury Annie said that if the canal excavation program continues, a new awakening and revolution could emerge in Bangladesh under the leadership of Tarique Rahman. Police in Saidpur, Nilphamari recovered the hanging body of a female patient named Sathi Akter, aged 28, from a room at a private clinic called Doctors Hospital on Saturday morning. Before police arrived, her husband, Raihanul Islam, and relatives fled the scene. The incident created shock in the local area.

According to hospital sources, Sathi was brought by ambulance from the 100-bed Saidpur Hospital around 5 a.m. and admitted to the private clinic, where nurses continued her previous treatment. Nurse Zahida Begum said the husband stayed briefly, left to bring breakfast, returned once, and then went out again, leaving the patient alone. During a routine check, staff found the room locked from inside and later discovered her hanging from a ceiling fan with a scarf.

Police sent the body for autopsy at Nilphamari General Hospital and confirmed that an investigation and legal procedures are underway.

The government of Bangladesh has initiated steps to sign bilateral agreements with seven European countries to explore alternative labor markets. A traditional horse race competition was held at the two-day Boishakhi fair in Babuganj upazila of Barishal. The event took place at the Post Office Bazar field in Chandpasha Union and concluded on Saturday with the horse race as its main attraction. Thirty people were injured in a clash between two factions of the Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) in Saltha upazila of Faridpur on Friday night. The violence erupted in Balia Bazar and nearby areas of Gatti Union following a long-standing rivalry between groups led by Zahid Matubbar and Nuru Matubbar. The incident began when supporters of Nuru Matubbar allegedly assaulted Zahid Matubbar’s supporter Arif Matubbar while he was returning from a feast.

The attack quickly escalated into a large-scale confrontation that lasted from evening until midnight. Both sides reportedly used local weapons, resulting in the vandalism of 20 to 25 houses and the burning of one home. Three cows belonging to Zahid Matubbar’s supporter Abul Sheikh were allegedly looted. The International Air Transport Association (IATA) has urged authorities to prepare coordinated plans to address potential jet fuel shortages caused by the ongoing Middle East war. Faridpur-4 Member of Parliament Shahidul Islam Khan Babul called for a strong social movement to combat moral decay, drug abuse, and other social ills. A mobile court in Raipur upazila of Lakshmipur district conducted a late-night operation at Akhon Bazar, uncovering illegal fuel storage and overpricing. The raid, held at 12:30 a.m. on Saturday, led to the seizure of approximately 350 liters of fuel from the home of a trader named Jasim, 45, who had been storing and selling fuel at inflated prices. The court fined him 20,000 taka, which was collected on the spot, and warned him against repeating such actions.

According to administrative sources, the confiscated fuel will be sold to local consumers at fair prices under government supervision, and the proceeds will be deposited into the state treasury. Members of law enforcement agencies assisted in the operation to ensure order and compliance.
