Sargis Alam, the chief coordinator of the North Region of the NCP, criticized the post-uprising developments, stating, "August 8 did not mark the beginning of a second liberation—it marked the start of compromise and the hijacking of the revolution." He noted that August 5 is observed as the "July Uprising Day" and the "Second Independence Day," commemorating the fall of the fascist Awami League regime. Following the transition, an interim government was formed under Dr. Yunus, and the Cabinet Division officially declared August 8 as “New Bangladesh Day.”
