The death toll in the blockaded Gaza Strip has reached 73,246 following ongoing Israeli attacks, with 173,727 people reported injured, according to a report by the Wafa news agency citing health officials on Wednesday. The figures were released on July 16, 2026, highlighting the continued violence in the region.
Wafa reported that although a ceasefire was declared between Hamas and Israel in October 2025, Israeli forces have killed 1,123 Palestinians and injured 3,616 others since then. The conflict began after Hamas attacked Israeli settlements on October 7, 2023, prompting Israel to launch large-scale assaults across Gaza.
The Gaza Health Ministry stated that more than 15 people were killed in the past two days, including one woman and six police officers. It added that Israeli forces are now targeting police personnel to create instability in the territory.
