European Council President Antonio Costa has welcomed the announcement of a new agreement between Iran and the United States aimed at ending their conflict. In a post on social media platform X, Costa expressed hope for the conclusion of the costly war and the full restoration of freedom of navigation in the Strait of Hormuz. He also affirmed that the European Union is ready to contribute to strategies for establishing lasting peace in the region.

Costa called for respect for international law and urged all parties to silence their weapons immediately. He emphasized that unresolved disputes should be settled peacefully in accordance with international legal principles.
