Amar Bangladesh (AB) Party has described the government’s first six months as disappointing, alleging that expected progress has not materialised. At a news conference at its central office in Bijoynagar, the capital, on August 17, 2026, party chairman Mojibur Rahman Manju said performance could be assessed through indicators including the economy, law and order, prices, governance, production, trade and democratic practice. He said conditions had worsened in some areas.

The party cited rising commodity prices, electricity and gas shortages, campus violence, partisan recruitment and economic stagnation as reasons for growing public frustration. Manju alleged that power and gas shortages had shut hundreds of factories and created uncertainty over the launch of more than 1,000 new factories. He said unemployment had increased despite promises of new jobs, while living costs had risen without an improvement in living standards.

Secretary General Barrister Asaduzzaman Fuad called for political tolerance to be maintained and described the government’s position on an India visit as positive. He also criticised BNP over its 31-point proposals and alleged partisan appointments in institutions. Fuad urged transparent, parliamentary policy-making before energy-sector privatisation and called for coordinated work by all political parties against extremism.
