Chapainawabganj-1 lawmaker Keramat Ali said the blood of martyrs Abu Sayeed, Mugdha and Abu Raihan, along with 1,400 martyrs, would not be in vain. He made the remarks on Monday afternoon at a brief rally in Shibganj, Chapainawabganj, following a protest march marking the second anniversary of the July mass uprising. The gathering demanded implementation of the referendum verdict and the July Charter, as well as trials for genocide.

Keramat Ali said students and the public had made their position clear, stating that they wanted to live and die in the country. He alleged that there had been betrayal of the blood shed. He also said demands for reforms had been buried and accused unspecified parties of betraying the people.

The protest march was organized by the Chapainawabganj district western branch of Chhatra Shibir. It started from Madina Mosque and ended in front of Shibganj Central Mosque. The rally was chaired by district western branch president Shahidullah. Speakers included central Chhatra Shibir HRM secretary Noman Hossain Nayon, district western branch secretary Abdul Awal, former president Mamun Hasan and others.
