Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) announced that it carried out retaliatory attacks on US military bases in Bahrain and Jordan following a recent US strike. According to a statement published by Iranian state media on Wednesday, the IRGC said it launched a drone attack on the US Fifth Fleet in Bahrain and a long-range missile strike on a base in Azraq, Jordan.
After sirens sounded early Wednesday in Bahrain, the country’s Interior Ministry urged citizens and residents to move to safe locations. The ministry posted on social media platform X asking people to remain calm and seek nearby shelters. Meanwhile, semi-official Tasnim News Agency reiterated the IRGC’s claim that the attacks were in direct response to the latest US assault.
No immediate reports of damage or casualties were available, and neither Bahrain nor the United States had issued official comments on the IRGC’s claims. In neighboring Kuwait, sirens also sounded as its military reported that air defense systems were intercepting hostile aerial targets according to standard procedures.
