Police in Rangamati detained 21 individuals, including three leaders of the banned Awami League, during a special operation conducted from Sunday evening until night across various areas of the municipal town. The detainees include Jasim Uddin, president of the Jubo League’s Ward No. 1 unit of Rangamati Municipality, Babu Tripura, its general secretary, and Naresh Majumder, general secretary of the Awami League’s Ward No. 6 unit. Others arrested include members of youth gangs, drug users, and gamblers.
According to Kotwali Police Station Officer-in-Charge Jasim Uddin, the operation was carried out under the direction of Superintendent of Police Muhammad Abdur Rakib Uddin. He stated that the drives will continue to maintain law and order in the district.
The report indicates that the police plan to sustain similar operations in the coming days to ensure stability in Rangamati.
