Bangladesh Police have arrested 33,000 people across the country during a special operation conducted over the past one and a half months. According to a press release from the Police Headquarters, the operation took place between May 1 and July 12, resulting in the arrest of 32,908 individuals under the ongoing special drive. Additionally, 83,817 others were detained in other cases and operations during the same period.

During these operations, police recovered 243 firearms, 2,313 rounds of ammunition, 88 magazines, 43 crude bombs, 2 kilograms of gunpowder, 503 locally made weapons, 18 weapon parts, 17 bomb-making tools, and 10,300 chocolate bombs. The seized firearms included pistols, revolvers, shotguns, rifles, and other types of guns.

Police also confiscated large quantities of illegal drugs, including over 7.6 million yaba tablets, heroin, phensedyl, foreign and local liquor, and cannabis. A total of 14,157 drug-related cases were filed, leading to the arrest of 20,439 suspects.
