Chattogram Metropolitan Police has transferred Panchlaish police station Officer-in-Charge Md Jahidul Islam to its Special Branch, CTSB. The order, signed by CMP Commissioner Hasan Md Shawkat Ali on the evening of August 23, said it would take effect immediately in the public interest. The transfer followed an August 22 investigative report by Amar Desh concerning allegations that Zobairul Haque Zian used a “honey trap” against former Chattogram police commissioner Hasib Aziz.

The report said information had emerged about Jahidul Islam’s contact with Zian. WhatsApp chats obtained in the investigation reportedly included discussion involving Jahidul Islam’s posting to Karnaphuli police station, where he later served as officer-in-charge after coming from Satkania. The investigation also reported personal communication between the two.

CMP did not state a reason for Jahidul Islam’s transfer. The same order reshuffled officers-in-charge at several city police stations, including Karnaphuli, Khulshi, Bayezid Bostami, Halishahar, Panchlaish Model and Sadarghat. Amar Desh said it sought Jahidul Islam’s comments on his contact with Zian.
