Local passengers and residents of Jibannagar upazila in Chuadanga staged a protest at Uthli Railway Station on Tuesday afternoon, demanding that intercity trains bound for Dhaka and Rajshahi stop there. The demonstration briefly halted the Khulna-bound Rupsha Express. Protesters said Uthli is the only operational railway station in Jibannagar upazila, recently upgraded with a new platform, and serves thousands of daily commuters from nearby areas.

Speakers at the protest stated that the absence of stops for major intercity trains causes severe travel difficulties, forcing passengers to board from distant stations at extra cost and time. Following the protest, participants submitted a memorandum to railway authorities, urging stops for the Dhaka-bound Benapole Express and Rajshahi-bound Kapotaksha Express at Uthli Station.

The memorandum claimed that introducing intercity stops at Uthli would directly benefit over a hundred thousand people in Jibannagar and surrounding areas, improving regional connectivity. Copies of the memorandum were also sent to the railway minister, divisional railway manager (west) in Pakshi, the Chuadanga deputy commissioner, and the Jibannagar upazila executive officer.
