Nepal has rescued at least 121 foreign nationals following severe flooding, according to the country’s tourism board. Indian citizens made up the largest group among those rescued. The disaster has killed nearly 547 people so far, while rescue teams continue moving stranded, injured and affected people to safer areas.

Of the 121 foreigners rescued, 85 are Indian nationals, 16 are Chinese and nine are South Korean. The nationalities of three additional rescued people have not yet been identified. Nepal’s tourism board said efforts were continuing to quickly rescue people trapped by the floods and transfer them to safe locations.

Authorities had earlier said that more than 500 tourists could not be traced amid the flooding. The missing list included 178 Indians, 65 Americans, 53 Ukrainians, 51 Malaysians, 33 Australians and 33 British nationals. Rescue teams are making their maximum effort to manage the situation, the tourism board said.
