National Nari Shakti member secretary and reserved-seat MP Dr Mahmuda Mitu said violence at Dhaka National Medical Institute Hospital recalled an attack she said Chhatra League carried out there in July 2024. In a Facebook post on Tuesday, August 4, 2026, she said Chhatra League had entered National Medical and attacked people in the same way.

The reported incident followed clashes involving Chhatra Dal, Shibir and Chhatra Shakti at Jagannath University. Jubo Dal and Chhatra Dal leaders and activists from the Dhaka metropolitan south were reported to have attacked Shibir and Chhatra Shakti leaders receiving treatment in the hospital's emergency department.

The attack took place at about 4:45 pm on Tuesday, according to the report. Before the incident, activists of Chhatra Dal branches at Kabi Nazrul Government College and Government Suhrawardy College arrived in front of the hospital in a joint procession. In her post, Mitu condemned the incident and wrote that the hands of “new Pharaohs” should be destroyed.
