The Islami Chhatra Andolan Bangladesh has strongly protested the government’s decision to make music, fine arts, drama, and dance compulsory under the ‘Arts and Culture’ subject in primary schools. In a joint statement issued on Friday, the organization’s central president Muntasir Ahmad and secretary general Sultan Mahmud condemned the move, calling it an attempt to impose anti-Islamic culture on young children. They warned that such initiatives would be resisted through united action if not withdrawn.

The statement described the government’s plan as a direct interference with the religious sentiments, social values, and cultural consciousness of the country’s Muslim majority. The group expressed deep concern and anger over the decision, arguing that many primary schools still lack qualified teachers and adequate infrastructure for core subjects like language, mathematics, and science.

The organization demanded the immediate cancellation of the decision and urged the government to develop a religion-based, practical, and modern education system. It warned that any attempt to include such subjects would be collectively resisted by students and the wider religious community.
