A special judge’s court in Chuadanga sentenced Raham Ali, 60, to life imprisonment for the murder of his wife, Aleya Khatun, 40. The verdict was announced on Tuesday afternoon by the Chuadanga Special Judge Court, also designated as the Women and Children Repression Prevention Tribunal.

According to court sources, Aleya Khatun was killed by having her throat cut in Gopinathpur village of Chuadanga Sadar upazila. A murder case was filed against her husband, Raham Ali, following the incident.

After a lengthy trial, the court found Raham Ali guilty. It ordered him to remain imprisoned until his natural death and imposed a fine of Tk10,000. If he fails to pay the fine, he will serve an additional three months of rigorous imprisonment.
