Local contractors in Narsingdi have accused Atikur Rahman Khan, General Manager of the commercial division at Ghorashal-Polash Urea Fertilizer Factory, of irregularities in selling unusable lubricating oil. They claim that oil worth several crores of taka was sold without an open tender, violating procurement rules. Factory authorities, however, maintain that the sale followed all government regulations.

According to factory sources, about 37,800 liters of unusable lubricating oil stored in 189 drums were being taken out of the factory in three trucks when local contractors intervened, forcing the materials to be returned to secure storage. Atikur Rahman Khan stated that the tender process had been completed earlier based on a committee’s recommendation, and the contract was awarded to Dhaka Min Wells Limited. He dismissed the allegations as baseless, asserting that only authorized government institutions can participate in such sales.

Local contractors, including owners of M/S Business International and M/S Osman & Brothers, have demanded a new tender through online or national newspaper announcements to ensure transparency and equal participation. The incident has sparked discontent among local business groups, who are calling for an investigation to ensure transparency and accountability.
