A DNA test has identified accused madrasa teacher Aman Ullah Mahmudi Sagar as the biological father of a newborn born to an 11-year-old child in a rape case in Madan, Netrokona. Public Prosecutor Advocate Nurul Kabir Rubel confirmed the finding after the report was submitted to the Netrokona Women and Children Repression Prevention Tribunal on Monday, August 24.

According to the case records, the child had studied at a women’s Qawmi madrasa established by Sagar about four years earlier while living with her maternal grandfather after her parents’ separation. Her mother, who worked as a domestic worker in Sylhet, took her for medical tests on April 18 after she became ill and showed physical changes. Doctors said she was pregnant, and her mother filed the case on April 23.

RAB arrested Sagar in Gauripur, Mymensingh, on May 6, and a court later ordered DNA testing. The child was moved to a Sylhet safe home on May 12 and gave birth to a girl on July 2. CID collected the newborn’s DNA sample on July 28. The prosecutor said the trial could be completed within 60 days.
