Asif Mahmud, advisor to the Local Government Division (LGD), stated in a press release that the LGD did not violate any laws regarding the ongoing DSCC mayoral issue. He explained that the gazette's tenure expired while the matter was sub judice, and later, the city corporation's term also ended — legally nullifying any opportunity for a formal oath-taking.

He criticized the unauthorized occupation of city offices, calling it a breach of responsibility and a disregard for the rule of law. “Such behavior is unbecoming of a leader who claims to oppose fascism,” he said, noting that the blockade has disrupted 30-40% of public services. Despite the disruption, city operations are continuing from WASA offices to minimize service interruption, he added.
