BNP candidate Shahjahan Chowdhury has been unofficially declared the winner in the Cox’s Bazar-4 constituency, comprising Ukhiya and Teknaf, following Thursday’s 13th National Parliamentary Election. According to the returning officer’s office, Chowdhury, who is also the district BNP president, received 123,582 votes, while his nearest rival, district Jamaat-e-Islami chief Nur Ahmad Anwari, secured 122,033 votes. The results were confirmed late Friday night.

In Ukhiya’s 54 polling centers, Chowdhury obtained 60,011 votes against Anwari’s 58,939. In Teknaf’s 61 centers, Chowdhury received 62,337 votes, while Anwari got 61,104. Among 3,866 registered postal voters, 2,550 valid votes were cast, with Anwari receiving 1,937 and Chowdhury 561, according to presiding officer Mohammad Moazzem Hossain’s signed result sheet.

After his victory, Shahjahan Chowdhury expressed gratitude to the people of Ukhiya-Teknaf for their trust and said the win belonged to the common people. He pledged to work for all residents, regardless of political affiliation, and to fulfill his election promises by promoting development, peace, and stability in the region.
