Four people, including a mother and her two young children, were killed when a sand-laden truck collided with a battery-powered Mithila van in Domar upazila of Nilphamari on Sunday afternoon. The accident occurred around 3:30 p.m. in the Panga Motukpur-Nadiya area on the Domar-Jaldhaka regional road. Two others were seriously injured and later transferred to Rangpur Medical College Hospital for advanced treatment.

According to local sources, the truck hit the passenger van, crushing it and throwing it off the road. The deceased were identified as van driver Parimal Barman, 40, of Nadiapara, and Pratima Rani, 28, along with her children Pitosha, 8, and Yadav, 4. Local residents, firefighters, and police conducted rescue operations immediately after the crash. Traffic on the regional road was temporarily halted but later restored by police.

Domar Police Station’s officer-in-charge confirmed the incident and said that legal procedures are underway. Efforts to detain the truck driver are continuing.
