Munshi Borhan Mahmud, president of Jagrat July, warned that his organization would march to the Prime Minister’s Office if alleged pro-Awami League journalists and so-called “information terrorists” are not held accountable within seven days. He issued the warning during a human chain protest held Monday afternoon at Shahid Osman Hadi Square in Dhaka. Mahmud said the protest aimed to denounce long-standing media manipulation and distortion under previous governments.

He alleged that over the past 17 years, a network of journalists had turned the media into a propaganda tool, suppressing dissent and spreading misinformation. The statement accused several named media figures and outlets of collaborating with former ruling powers, engaging in unethical practices, and continuing to hold influential positions. Jagrat July demanded immediate investigation and punishment for those accused, an end to political control over media, and protection for independent journalism.

The group announced that if no action is taken within a week, it will submit memorandums to media houses and stage sit-in programs beneath them, culminating in a march toward the Prime Minister’s Office.
