Police in Purbadhala upazila of Netrokona have arrested three people following a flash procession organized by the banned Awami League. The arrests were made on Friday night, June 26, 2026, during raids in different areas of the upazila. A case under the Special Powers Act was filed naming 80 individuals and 20 to 25 unidentified persons in connection with the incident. The case was lodged by Mohammad Moslem Uddin Fakir, joint general secretary of the upazila Krishak Dal, after the early morning procession took place in the Narandia Bazar area.

The detainees include Azaharul Islam, vice president of the upazila Chhatra League; Fazlul Karim, former organizational secretary of Bishkakuni Union Jubo League; and Anwar Hossain Talukdar, a Jubo League activist from Pailati village in Narandia Union. Officer-in-Charge Mohammad Abdullah Al Mamun confirmed that the three were sent to jail through court on Saturday afternoon. Police operations to arrest the remaining accused are ongoing.

Authorities have not disclosed further details about the banned organization’s activities or the reasons behind the prohibition.
