US Secretary of State Marco Rubio stated that Iran is using the Strait of Hormuz as a bargaining tool. Speaking to reporters before departing for the Philippines on Sunday, Rubio said it is clear that Iran seeks to control the strait and leverage it for negotiation. He emphasized that the United States will take all necessary measures to ensure the safety of global maritime navigation.

Rubio also called on world powers to share responsibility for securing navigation in the Strait of Hormuz. He said that while the United States will fulfill its duties, other countries must also step forward by providing equipment or financial assistance to support this mission.
