Following the Supreme Court’s acquittal of Jamaat-e-Islami leader ATM Azharul Islam in a war crimes case, party activists gathered in front of the Supreme Court’s annex building to offer a special two-unit prayer of gratitude (Shukrana Namaz). Many supporters, including men and women, reportedly fasted as a form of devotion while awaiting the verdict, which they say confirms the innocence of their “wrongfully accused” leader.
