A tragic road accident in Matlab South, Chandpur, claimed the lives of a college student and his teenage niece on Tuesday, June 2. Fazle Rabbi, 21, was teaching his 14-year-old niece Ishat how to ride a motorcycle when the vehicle lost control and crashed into a stationary road department truck near the southern part of the Matlab Bridge. Fazle Rabbi died shortly after being taken to Chandpur General Hospital, while Ishat succumbed to her injuries later that night at Dhaka Medical College Hospital.

According to local witnesses, the motorcycle struck the parked truck with great force, leaving both severely injured. Fazle Rabbi was a student at Matlab Government Degree College and a resident of Baishpur Bepari Bari in Matlab South Municipality. Ishat, a tenth-grade student from Dhaka’s Jatrabari area, had been visiting her maternal grandparents’ home in Matlab for Eid-ul-Azha. Police confirmed the deaths and said legal procedures are underway.

Authorities have initiated necessary legal actions related to the accident, as confirmed by the officer-in-charge of Matlab South Police Station.
