A portrait of Sheikh Mujibur Rahman hanging in the office of Sonarghop Ramesh Chandra Government Primary School in Pirojpur has ignited political controversy. Local BNP leaders allege that displaying the image is an attempt at political influence. Since the fall of the Awami League government on August 5, images of Sheikh Hasina and Sheikh Mujib have been removed from most institutions in Nazirpur Upazila—except this school. Headteacher Shamima Yasmin defended the portrait, saying, “My father was a freedom fighter. Bangabandhu is the Father of the Nation. We love and respect him. The question of removing his portrait does not arise.” Local administration confirmed there's no official directive to remove such portraits, though changes are being made in line with the political climate. Authorities indicated Yasmin would be served a show-cause notice.
