The Ministry of Home Affairs in Bangladesh has announced a major reshuffle in the senior ranks of the national police. According to three separate notifications issued by the Public Security Division on Tuesday, several officers holding the ranks of DIG, Additional DIG, and Superintendent of Police (SP) have been transferred or reassigned to new posts. The orders, issued in the public interest, are to take immediate effect.
Key changes include new leadership in the Mymensingh, Chattogram, and Sylhet regions. DIG Md. Ataul Kibria of Mymensingh Range has been transferred to the CID, while Khulna Metropolitan Police Commissioner DIG Mohammad Zahidul Hasan will replace him. Sylhet Metropolitan Police Commissioner DIG Md. Abdul Kuddus Chowdhury has been appointed as DIG of Chattogram Range, and DIG Sarwar Murshed Shamim from Police Headquarters will take charge as the new Sylhet Metropolitan Police Commissioner. Additional DIG-level and SP-level transfers were also made across several units.
The notifications, signed by Deputy Secretary Tawsif Ahmed, emphasize that all orders are effective immediately and issued in the public interest.
