BNP leaders welcomed Awami League leader Abdur Rahim Mia with flowers at a union BNP organisational meeting in Jhalokathi on Tuesday afternoon. Mia is vice-president of the Kirtipasha Union Awami League and chairman of the Union Parishad. Sadar Upazila BNP president SM Ejaz Hasan and general secretary Md Khokon Mallik were among the BNP leaders who welcomed him. Kirtipasha Union BNP president Anisuzzaman Chapal and general secretary Shariful Haque Mia were also present.

Addressing the matter, Sadar Upazila BNP president Professor Ejaz Hasan said Rahim Mia had not been taken into the party. He also claimed that reports saying Mia was joining the BNP were incorrect.
