Iran has announced plans to collect tolls from ships passing through the Strait of Hormuz, aiming to use the revenue to rebuild infrastructure destroyed by US-Israeli attacks and to replenish its missile and drone stockpiles. Iranian media reported on Monday that Tehran rejected a US ceasefire proposal, insisting that the conflict imposed by Washington requires a permanent solution. Iran stated it would not reopen the strait despite pressure from President Trump, as it seeks to maintain control over the route through which 20 percent of global energy supply passes.

Tehran’s new ten-point proposal to the United States includes international recognition of its rights over the Strait of Hormuz, permission to continue its civilian nuclear program, removal of all economic sanctions, cessation of Israeli attacks in Lebanon, and war reparations. Before the US assault, 100 to 135 ships carrying up to 25 million barrels of oil passed daily through the strait, but Iran has since halted most traffic.

Analysts cited in the report said Iran now effectively controls maritime movement in the strait, selectively allowing or blocking ships, underscoring its strategic dominance in the region.
