Selimuzzaman Selim, Joint Organizing Secretary of the BNP National Executive Committee, has been elected as a Member of Parliament from the Gopalganj-1 constituency according to unofficial results published on February 13, 2026. This marks his first time representing the constituency in the national parliament. A total of ten candidates contested in the election, with Selim’s main rival being Md. Kabir Mia of the Gano Odhikar Parishad.

According to the announced results, Selimuzzaman Selim, who ran under the paddy sheaf symbol, received 68,867 votes, while his closest competitor, Md. Kabir Mia, running under the truck symbol, secured 53,091 votes. The total number of registered voters in the constituency was 399,510. The results show that Selim achieved victory by a notable margin.

However, the results are unofficial. The Election Commission will finalize and officially declare the outcome after completing its formal procedures, according to relevant sources.
