Nearly three decades after the mysterious death of Dhallywood actor Salman Shah, renewed discussions have emerged following a court directive to exhume his body for further investigation. In a recent interview, his mother, Neela Chowdhury, expressed dissatisfaction with the decision, saying she sees little justification for another exhumation after previous investigations.

Neela Chowdhury stated that during the second autopsy, doctors, police, and journalists all found the body in a normal condition, yet the report described it as decomposed, which she believes indicates inconsistencies. She alleged irregularities and external influence during earlier phases of the investigation and questioned why the same process is being repeated. Despite her concerns, she said she respects the court’s authority and will abide by its decision.

Salman Shah was found unconscious at his Eskaton residence in Dhaka on September 6, 1996, and was later declared dead at the hospital. Initially recorded as an unnatural death, the case later turned into a murder investigation. The latest court order has reignited public debate over whether his death was suicide or homicide.
