Trump called Macron’s claim “wrong” and clarified that his return to Washington was unrelated to any ceasefire efforts. Macron had earlier suggested a genuine proposal for negotiations aimed first at a ceasefire, which the U.S. would support. Trump emphasized there are bigger issues at hand beyond a ceasefire.
