For the first time, members of the Ansar and Village Defence Party (VDP) are taking part on a large scale in the Bangladesh Army’s summer exercise, which began on Sunday and will continue until July 14. The joint training aims to enhance national defense readiness and inter-force coordination through integrated tactical drills. Participants will gain practical experience in modern and unconventional warfare, including small-unit operations.

According to Ansar officials, the initiative marks a new chapter in strengthening grassroots volunteer involvement in the country’s security framework. The exercise includes trained volunteer members from upazila and thana-level Ansar companies across all army divisions. Before joining, participants completed a three-day on-the-job training covering raids, ambushes, base establishment, and coordinated field operations.

Officials said the program will improve rapid decision-making and teamwork in real situations. The restructured Ansar units now include more educated and trained youth, enhancing both organizational and field effectiveness. The Ansar and VDP expressed gratitude to the army for including volunteers, viewing the collaboration as a timely step toward stronger national security coordination.
