Bangladesh Foreign Minister Dr. Khalilur Rahman held a bilateral meeting with Indian High Commissioner to Dhaka Dinesh Trivedi on Sunday at the state guest house Padma. Neither side officially disclosed what was discussed during the closed-door meeting, according to the report.
After the meeting, the foreign minister told journalists that the Indian high commissioner would meet Prime Minister Tarique Rahman on Monday. He said the media would be formally briefed on the matter after that meeting. The Prime Minister’s Press Wing also confirmed that the meeting had been scheduled.
According to the Press Wing, Tarique Rahman and the Indian high commissioner are due to meet at 11 a.m. Monday at the Bangladesh Secretariat. The meeting took place amid recent diplomatic tensions between Dhaka and Delhi linked to remarks made by Bangladesh’s ousted prime minister Sheikh Hasina at a virtual press conference in Delhi last week.
