China and Pakistan have jointly called on the United States and Iran to stop hostilities and return to dialogue, warning that renewed conflict threatens the Islamabad Memorandum of Understanding aimed at ending the war. The appeal came after a meeting between Pakistan’s Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar and Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi on the sidelines of the World Artificial Intelligence Cooperation Organization conference in Shanghai.

According to China’s Foreign Ministry, both sides expressed concern over the deteriorating situation and urged all parties to cease hostilities, reduce tensions, avoid external interference, and resume communication toward a comprehensive peace agreement. Wang Yi described the initial memorandum between the US and Iran as a hard-won achievement reflecting global cooperation and praised Pakistan’s indispensable mediating role. China reaffirmed its support for Pakistan’s diplomatic efforts to advance peace talks.

The call came amid renewed exchanges of attacks between the US and Iran, including reported strikes on civilian infrastructure and retaliatory drone attacks. Tensions have also risen over the Strait of Hormuz, where both nations have imposed new restrictions following recent escalations.
