Jamaat’s Nayeb-e-Ameer Syed Abdullah Mohammad Taher welcomed the Supreme Court’s decision to overturn the death sentence of party leader ATM Azharul Islam, who was previously convicted of crimes against humanity. Dr. Taher remarked that the verdict marked the triumph of truth over falsehood and expressed gratitude to the judiciary. This is the first time in Bangladesh's legal history that the Supreme Court has acquitted an individual previously sentenced to death in a war crimes tribunal.
