Police arrested two named accused in a case filed over the anti-discrimination student movement in Nagarpur, Tangail. The arrests were made during overnight raids in different parts of the upazila on Tuesday. After required legal procedures on Wednesday morning, both men were sent to a court in Tangail.

The detainees were identified as Baharul Islam, also known as Kana Bahar, son of the late Badruddin of Duajani village in Nagarpur Sadar Union, and Masum Mia, son of Iman of Kathuri village. Police said the case mentions Baharul Islam’s involvement in local Jubo League politics.

According to police sources, the two face allegations as named accused in a case filed on September 10, 2024, over the anti-discrimination student movement incident. Acting on confidential information, police conducted separate raids on Tuesday night and arrested them from their respective homes. Nagarpur police station Officer-in-Charge Md Jahurul Islam said both were named accused and were sent through the court after their arrest.
