Bangladesh’s Election Commission began a meeting with acting Parliament Speaker Barrister Kaysar Kamal on Tuesday at about 11 a.m., ahead of the country’s 23rd presidential election. A commission delegation led by Chief Election Commissioner A M M Nasir Uddin attended the meeting at the national parliament.

The meeting follows the resignation of President Md. Shahabuddin on Friday, July 24. He formally submitted his resignation letter to the speaker of the national parliament. The report said the signed resignation letter was sent to the speaker in accordance with Article 50(3) of the Constitution.
