Islami Andolan Bangladesh has secured its first-ever seat in the national parliament by winning the Barguna-1 constituency. The party’s candidate, Md. Oli Ullah, who contested under the hand fan symbol, was unofficially declared elected after defeating BNP’s district convener Nazrul Islam Molla, who ran under the paddy sheaf symbol, by a margin of 4,175 votes. According to the announced results, Oli Ullah received 138,512 votes, while his closest rival Molla obtained 134,336 votes.

The Barguna-1 constituency, comprising Barguna Sadar, Amtali, and Taltali upazilas, has a total of 519,459 registered voters, including 259,097 men and 260,351 women. Additionally, 37,960 new voters were added to the rolls, and there were 6,298 postal voters. This victory marks the first time Islami Andolan Bangladesh will have representation in the national parliament.

The result signifies a new milestone for the party, which had not previously won a parliamentary seat since its formation.
