In Tangail’s Bhuapur upazila, BNP leader Abdus Salam allegedly threatened to cut off a food official’s hand after failing to secure an Open Market Sale (OMS) dealership. Salam, the organizational secretary of Gabshara Union BNP, participated in an open lottery for dealership allocation on March 6, conducted by the Upazila Administration and Food Office. After failing to win the dealership, he and his associates stormed into the office on Monday morning and issued the violent threat against Food Officer Mohammad Kazi Hamidul. Authorities are investigating the incident.
