Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami Secretary General Professor Mia Golam Porwar has described the newly announced national budget as one designed for the looting of party activists rather than for the welfare of citizens. Speaking on Saturday at a conference of upazila working committee members organized by the Bhola district branch of Jamaat-e-Islami, he said the budget is ambitious, debt-dependent, and harmful to the people. He added that Jamaat has rejected the government’s budget and presented its own people-friendly shadow budget, urging the government to revise and present a corrected version to the nation.

Porwar also warned that failure to implement the “July Charter” would amount to deceiving the nation and could lead to severe consequences. He emphasized that the people of Bangladesh would not tolerate such betrayal. Addressing local issues, he praised the Speaker’s role in Bhola but criticized the local MP for neglecting development needs such as industrialization, a medical college, a Bhola-Barishal bridge, and river erosion prevention.

He further clarified that Islami Bank is not Jamaat’s bank but belongs to the people of Bangladesh.
