The government has extended the tenure of the commission investigating enforced disappearances until December 31, 2025. The new term will come into effect on July 1.
A gazette notification, signed by the Cabinet Secretary under the authority of the President, stated the extension was made under Section 3 of the Commissions of Inquiry Act, 1956. The commission is tasked with tracing individuals allegedly disappeared by law enforcement agencies.
