Hefazat-e-Islam Bangladesh organized a large protest rally in Dhaka after Friday prayers, demanding exemplary punishment for Baul singer Abul Sarkar over alleged derogatory comments about Allah, the Quran, and Islam. The demonstration, held at the north gate of Baitul Mukarram National Mosque under the Dhaka Metropolitan Paltan Zone, drew a significant turnout of supporters. Senior Hefazat leaders, including Maulana Junaid Al Habib, condemned Sarkar’s remarks as an attack on Muslim faith and warned the government against protecting him. Speakers also cautioned that if cases against protesters are not withdrawn and Sarkar is not brought to justice, they would intensify their movement and could paralyze the country. The rally concluded with a procession from Paltan intersection to Bijoynagar. The protest reflects rising religious sensitivities and tensions surrounding perceived blasphemy issues in Bangladesh.
