The Bangladesh Navy has detained 14 Indian fishermen and seized a trawler named FB Parmita for illegally entering Bangladesh’s territorial waters in the Bay of Bengal and fishing without authorization. The vessel was captured near the deep sea buoy zone off the Sundarbans coast by the warship BNS Bishkhali. The detained fishermen were brought to Mongla Naval Base on Sunday afternoon. The catch, which includes a large quantity of hilsa and other marine fish, will be auctioned off. The fishermen and the trawler will be handed over to Mongla police. This follows a similar incident on July 14, when 34 Indian fishermen aboard two trawlers were arrested in the same area.
