Israeli Defense Minister Israel Katz has announced plans for an expanded military operation to take control of more areas in Gaza. Katz stated, "A significant portion of the population will be evacuated from combat zones." He urged Gazans to view the eradication of Hamas and the return of Israeli hostages as the only way to end the war. Israel has already established a buffer zone within Gaza and expanded areas surrounding the enclave. Additionally, a large security zone has been set up in the Netzarim Corridor at the heart of Gaza. Israeli leaders have suggested they are working towards implementing a plan supported by former U.S. President Donald Trump.
