The Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) prevented an attempt by India’s Border Security Force (BSF) to push a woman into Bangladesh through the Rokonpur border in Gomastapur upazila of Chapainawabganj. The incident occurred around 10:30 p.m. on Monday near border pillar 225/3-R, opposite India’s RK Wada camp under the 88th BSF Battalion. BSF members reportedly tried to send the woman across the border by boat, but the attempt failed due to the alertness of BGB personnel and local residents.
According to BGB sources, patrol members quickly reached the spot after receiving information from locals and took a firm position, forcing the BSF to abandon the push-in attempt. The woman was later seen inside Indian territory near the zero line. Lieutenant Colonel Ariful Islam Masum, commanding officer of the 16 BGB Battalion, said the force remains vigilant to prevent any illegal entry or push-in attempts along the border.
He added that the situation is being closely monitored and surveillance in the border area has been further strengthened.
