Two police officers were injured in Mohammadpur, Dhaka, when a group of robbers attacked them with sharp weapons during a police raid on June 16, 2026. The incident followed a morning robbery in Adabor, where a mobile money agent named Shafiqul Islam was severely injured and robbed of about 350,000 taka. Later in the day, police traced the suspects to an area near Delta Garments, where the gang resisted arrest and attacked the officers.

Police responded with gunfire, injuring two gang members and arresting four suspects, including individuals known locally as 'Chora Rubel' and 'Kana Amir'. According to Dhaka Metropolitan Police’s Tejgaon Division, the officers fired in self-defense. The arrested suspects were reportedly linked to a long-active gang involved in robbery, extortion, and land grabbing across Adabor, Mohammadpur, and nearby areas.

Local residents said several youth gangs have been operating in these neighborhoods for years, engaging in criminal activities and spreading fear. Police are now interrogating the detainees to identify other members of the network.
