Indian Assistant High Commissioner in Chattogram Shri Harish Kumar visited the historic Chandranath Dham and Satipith in Sitakunda on the afternoon of July 28, according to local sources. The visit was not announced in advance, and local administration and law-enforcement agencies said they had received no prior information. Accompanied by a small number of aides, Kumar prayed at the Maa Bhavani temple and visited the hilltop Shri Shri Kramadishwar Swayambhunath temple, Shri Shri Bhairab temple, Byaskunda and other religious and historic sites.

Sources said he inquired about the temples' current condition, conservation work, infrastructure development and facilities for pilgrims. Sitakunda Upazila Nirbahi Officer Fakhrul Islam said he had no prior information about the visit. Alamgir Hossain, the investigation officer at Sitakunda police station, said police and DSB had no information about it either.

Several temple and religious organisation representatives said they were not formally informed. Upazila Puja Udjapan Parishad president Amalendu Kanak said it should be clarified who was involved in arranging the visit. The Indian assistant high commission had not issued an official statement on the purpose of the visit.
