After repeated attacks on the NCP convoy in Gopalganj, party leader Sarjis Alam posted on his verified Facebook page: “If we survive, we’ll return after burying Mujibism—if not, we won't return at all.” He accused the government and administration of deliberate inaction. Their convoy was pelted with stones even while leaving the rally area. Despite the presence of army, police, and RAB, the attackers could not be stopped. Eventually, police had to escort NCP leaders to the Superintendent of Police’s office for safety.
