Expelled Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) rebel candidate M A Hannan has been unofficially declared the winner in the Chandpur-4 (Faridganj) constituency. The announcement came on Thursday, February 12, 2026, following the unofficial results. Hannan, who contested with the shrimp symbol, defeated BNP central committee member and official candidate Lion Md Harunur Rashid, who ran with the paddy sheaf symbol, by a margin of 4,627 votes.

According to results from 118 polling centers and postal ballots from local employees and expatriates, M A Hannan received 73,842 votes. His closest rival, Harunur Rashid, secured 69,215 votes, while the 11-party alliance candidate Maulana Billal Hossain Miaji, who contested with the scale symbol, obtained 66,505 votes.

The unofficial outcome highlights internal divisions within the BNP, as an expelled rebel candidate outperformed the party’s official nominee in a key constituency.
